Alas ! Some Greek gods are calling
Apollo beckons his twin sister, Artemis.
And we here below, are sorrowful,
We are beginning our mourning,
At the departure of a beautiful angel,
Who was ours for a while,
Ministering to us, loving us,
And always with generosity
And a most beautiful smile.
As an actress in Greece,
Artemis, you never lost your charm,
In New York, you became a psychologist,
And worked amicably with us all,
In NYSPA, in DOWI, in MPA.
Your energy knew few bounds,
Agendas and activities must be kept moving along their way.
Little did we know the cost of the generous care,
With which you tended your organizations
And friends whom you all held dear.
Oh, Artemis,
what a loss to us,
Your angelic presence
Your sincere thoughts and contributions,
Sometimes you might get lost in detail,
But honesty and fairness you always championed.
Artemis,
We love you and want you to know,
We each feel a debt of gratitude to you,
For the warmth of your heart,
And the beauty of your spirit,
You bestowed on meetings which you led or of which you were a part.
Dear Artemis
We bid you fare well
and
We send you more love than we can really tell.

I want to express my gratitude to Artemis’s son, Dimitri, for allowing me the privilege of reading this tribute to Artemis, a few hours before she departed. In a private room, Dimitri put me on speaker phone, Artemis recognized my voice and was able to feel loved and remembered by all of us, followed by a sense of peace.
